Be sure to Check the Minimum System Requirements

Question: I keep getting a message that the system can’t find a server, and that it may be behind a firewall.  What does this mean?

Our Suggestion:  The streaming network keeps video files on a network of several servers.  When a change is made to a video file then the new copy of that video file must be copied to all of the servers in the streaming network.  Occasionally this takes a few minutes, and during this time you may receive this message.

Some files on the video network are only available from certain locations, like your Public Library or City Hall.  If you receive this message for more than a few hours, please contact the webmaster and tell them about it.  Be sure to write down which file you are trying to view, and the exact wording of the error message.

Question: My Browser appears to be blocking a Pop-Up Window, how do I prevent this?

Our Suggestion:  The Video Player opens in a new browser window - Pop-Up blockers will interfere with this, most browsers will allow pop-ups if the user clicked on the link.

Question:  PDF and Word documents related to a meeting ask me to save the document to my Mac's hard drive. Can't I view this without saving it?

Our Suggestion:  You can view PDF and Word documents in your browser window - without saving them to your hard drive. If you use Apple's Safari browser on OS X version 10.4.2 or later, the easiest way to solve this problem is to upgrade to the newest version available. This version will display PDF files within the browser window even if you don't have the free Adobe Reader software.

Downloading the free Adobe Reader software will also provide you the option to display PDF files in the browser window.

Once you have the Adobe Reader installed you can check it's preferences are set to display PDFs in your browser. Open the Adobe Reader application, from the Adobe Reader menu select Preferences, from the panel that appears select Internet. In the Web Browser Options check the option Display PDF in browser using: Adobe Reader. This works in the Safari browser, but may not in other browsers.
An alternative option which works in most browsers for Macs is to download PDF Browser Plug-in. This is available from Schubert|it. This website also provides a Word Browser Plug-in, also for free.

Question:  The Closed Captioning doen't show when I select it

Our Suggestion:  If you can not see the closed captioning (if this feature is available) please contact the webmaster. This closed caption feature is currently not supported on the Apple Mac OS X platform.

Question:  When I view a video there's a panel displaying a "404 Error - Page Not Found"

Our Suggestion:  The video you are viewing may have been set to display a related document - for a variety of reasons this link may be failing. Please contact the webmaster.
